Client Objectives
Haverford College engaged Cresa to manage its seven‑year Campus Capital Improvement Plan, focused on modernizing and revitalizing key academic, cultural, and student‑focused facilities while preserving the character of its historic campus. Results
- Visual Culture, Arts, and Media Center (VCAM) | 22,000 SF
Transformed a 100+‑year‑old gymnasium into a modern, multi‑use academic building featuring technology‑enabled classrooms, studios, editing spaces, screening and performance areas, and faculty offices—supporting transdisciplinary creativity across digital media, film, and material culture. The project included significant building envelope restoration, including roofing, windows, woodwork, and masonry.
- Lutnick Library | 87,165 SF
Delivered a comprehensive transformation by infilling a new three‑story structure within eight historic, contiguous buildings. The revitalized library now features enhanced Quaker and Special Collections, a Digital Scholarship Commons, group study and seminar rooms, a classroom, large event space, café with outdoor patio, and climate‑controlled archival storage.
- Sharpless Hall | 40,000 SF
In just eight months, Cresa led the renovation of a century‑old academic building into a modern home for Psychology and Biology programs, managing the project from preconstruction through value engineering, construction, move‑out and re‑occupancy, and furniture procurement and setup.
- Student Center | 12,000 SF
Managed the creation of a vibrant new Student Center with interconnecting stairs, expanded ceiling heights, a flexible black box theater, lounge and café spaces, and a theater‑style media room—enhancing student life and campus connectivity.
- Music Hall & Michael Jaharis Recital Hall | 16,885 SF
Despite COVID‑related disruptions, the project was delivered on time and under budget. The Jaharis Recital Hall was meticulously designed to maximize acoustics, featuring curved surfaces and the elimination of hard corners to enhance sound quality for live performances.
