Client Objectives

Located on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway in the heart of Philadelphia, Paine’s Park represents a significant milestone in the city’s effort to become more skate-friendly while activating public space. Originally conceptualized in 2002, the project came to fruition nine years later, creating a dynamic environment that integrates skateboarding, landscape architecture, and urban design.

The design called for a careful balance of functionality, aesthetics, and community engagement. Skateboarding features were thoughtfully integrated into the landscape to provide safe and accessible recreation while maintaining the park’s broader public use. The project also sought to create a flexible public space that complements the surrounding cityscape and serves visitors, pedestrians, and recreational users alike.

Results

Cresa provided project management services to help bring the vision for Paine’s Park to life. Working closely with designers, city officials, and stakeholders, the team coordinated project activities to support efficient execution and informed decision-making throughout the process.

Services included project scheduling, budget oversight, and facilitating communication among all parties. The result was a landmark public space that celebrates skateboarding culture, innovative landscape architecture, and the vitality of Philadelphia’s urban environment.
