Pursuit Moves Its HQ to Latham Office Park

The Capital Region's top provider of U.S. Small Business Administration loans recently relocated its headquarters from downtown Albany to Latham.

Pursuit, formerly known as the New York Business Development Corp., now occupies 20,000 square feet at 19 British American Blvd.

The building is within developer British American's 350-acre Airport Park, the same area to which downtown law firm O'Connell & Aronowitz will relocate next year. The small business lender previously leased about the same amount of space across two floors in an office building at 50 Beaver St. near MVP Arena. President and CEO Chris Levy said the goal of bringing all of the Albany office's staff together on one floor was the driving factor for the relocation.

Gov. Hochul's recent $400 million proposal for downtown Albany has underscored public concern about the area's post-Covid vibrancy and safety. Levy said that wasn't a factor in the decision. "We would have loved to be downtown," he said. "How do you find a space that has 20,000 square feet all on one level? That's what brought us up here."

Additionally, an analysis by Cresa, a real estate advisory firm that assisted Pursuit with its search, found that the Latham area was the overall most convenient location for the 75 employees commuting to the office, Levy said.
