Get to Know Dan Hicks

Dan began his role at Cresa with a background in real estate, financial services and data analytics. He provides office occupiers with successful, conflict-free solutions while addressing their short and long-term real estate needs.

To get to know Dan on a more personal level we asked him the following questions.

Outside of work, what are you most passionate about?

When I'm not working, I'm usually hanging out with friends and exploring Denver. I'm an avid reader, and outdoor enthusiast.

What is your favorite Denver restaurant?

I'm a fan of new restaurant concepts, and love seeing new themes develop into brick-and-mortar establishments. So, I'm going to say any number of the Denver Food Halls.

How do you describe your job to people outside of the industry?

I specialize in helping companies who are in the market to lease traditional office space. Then I go on to describe the difference between commercial real estate and corporate real estate in that commercial real estate is the practice of using real property as the business itself in contract to corporate real estate where we view property as an asset of the business.

If you were not in commercial real estate what would you be doing?

I would be in the financial industry specializing in buy-side equity analysis.

What is your biggest pet-peeve?

Indecision, especially in Denver traffic.

What is the best advice you’ve ever received?

Be an expert in at least one thing. Don't be a jack-of-all-trades because you'll end up a master-of-nothing. People value expertise.
