Client Objectives

One of the nation’s most effective environmental action groups, Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) takes a grassroots approach to advocating for stringent environmental protection with the power of 1.4 million members, online activists, and more than 350 lawyers, scientists and other professionals. NRDC’s staff work with businesses, elected leaders and community groups to solve issues like curbing global warming, creating a clean energy future and defending endangered wildlife and wild places, amongst other causes.

Based in New York City, NRDC has been working with Cresa for over 11 years on multiple projects as a part of its goal to develop and implement a national real estate strategy, identifying opportunities to reduce costs for numerous its leased and owned facilities. The collaboration began by identifying NRDC’s objectives through development of a Strategic Real Estate Plan which revealed all options available to NRDC for its Washington, DC location at 1152 15th Street, NW, including:

  • Potential sale and relocation to leased space at NRDC’s headquarters building in New York City;
  • Potential sale and relocation to leased space in Santa Monica, California; and
  • Evaluate expansion options in the District of Columbia.

Results

Cresa Washington DC has presented the Strategic Real Estate Plan for its operations at 1152 15th Street, NW, to the Board of Directors at NRDC; and we are currently waiting for direction on next steps while a new president of the organization will begin overseeing operations on January 1, 2015.
