Johnson Creek Enterprises is moving out of Johnson Creek.

February 22, 2011
The company, which manufactures liquid smoke juice for electronic cigarettes, has signed a five-year lease for a 24,000-square-foot space in the Waukesha County village of Hartland, about 25 miles east of Johnson Creek.

The facility, at 455 Industrial Park Drive, is 10 times larger than the 2,400-square-foot space in which the Jefferson County company has been located since shortly after its founding in 2008.

TJ Blitz, a commercial real estate agent with Madison’s CresaPartners, which represented JCE, said the company needed a larger facility but couldn’t commit to building in Johnson Creek. Efforts to find an existing space in the community were unsuccessful, he said.

"We tried to make something work there," Blitz said. "We spoke with the city and tried to find a facility but there was just nothing there."

The company expects to begin moving in the next few weeks, Blitz said. The new location will house the company's headquarters, production lab, research and development lab, order fulfillment center and warehouse. JCE has 16 employees but plans to grow to 25 to 30 by July, said chief operations officer Heidi Braun.
