Cresa Houston has hired a new principal to open an office for the firm in The Woodlands.

Jay Nowlin joined Cresa in March after serving as president of Nowlin Commercial Interests LLC, based in The Woodlands. Nowlin's firm placed more than $3.3 billion in debt and equity capital, sold more than $200 million in commercial real estate, and managed a portfolio in excess of 7 million square feet of office, industrial and retail space, according to Cresa.

Cresa plans to open its Woodlands office later this year and add about three to five office and industrial brokers within the next 18 months, a Cresa spokeswoman told the Houston Business Journal. The firm expects the new office could eventually support eight to 10 brokers.

Cresa also recently added Sandy Fishlock as a senior vice president and Grant Mehlhoff as a marketing associate.

Cresa is the Houston area’s 20th-largest commercial real estate firm, according to Houston Business Journal research, based on the firm’s 17 licensed professionals. The company has 25 total employees, according to its website.
